What is Heirloom Audio’s focus? We specialize in the finest in high-end home audio components from specialist manufacturers around the world. We are audiophiles ourselves, and our mission is to provide professional auditions of these components in whatever way best suits our clients’ needs. We pride ourselves in maintaining a dedicated showroom environment that is comfortable, relaxed and down-to-earth.  You will find that we are not interested in pressuring you to buy.  Rather, we are interested in helping you in your pursuit of whatever it takes to increase your enjoyment of the music you love.  That is, after all, the point of a high-end music system.

Why Heirloom? Our name is not merely a fancy word chosen to grab attention. It stems from our belief that a fine hi-fi system should be at least as important an investment to a family as a hand-crafted dining room set, an exquisite timepiece, or other treasured heirloom. Ideally it will have lasting build quality evident to both casual observer and serious owner alike, creating a fondness for the components that justifies a desire to share them with future generations.

Why do I need an appointment? We want to make certain we fully understand what your needs are, and we can best assure that by devoting our full attention to you. We also want to make sure we give you the best opportunity to hear how good our product lines are. We don’t give you half-baked auditions of badly situated components. Each audition is customized with great attention paid to optimum placement, without interference from other components. We approach the audition with the same level of thoroughness and professionalism you would expect from your physician or dentist. We like to think of this as the “private practice” model of audio retailing, and we think you’ll agree it provides the highest level of service attainable.

What is a reference system? Our idea of a reference system is one that makes every recording in your collection viable, not just a few audiophile oddballs. The very best recordings should sound as “live” as you’ve ever heard them. Average recordings should be given new life. And the worst recordings in your collection should no longer be an impediment to enjoying the music previously held prisoner within. The reference system should set an example of getting out of the way and letting the music play as it was intended. We also believe that a reference system should be able to do justice to all kinds of music, not just be a one-trick pony. Such a system should faithfully reproduce everything from the delicate nuance of a solo instrument or voice, to the immense power of a full symphony orchestra, to the meaty grooves of today’s amazing amplified ensembles – all with equal merit. Every component and every system we sell must then live up to the spirit of these goals, regardless of cost.

Why spend so much for a hi-fi system? Beyond the obvious sonic benefits that better audio equipment provides, there are other benefits as well. For example, build quality, reliability and ergonomics tend to be greatly improved over inexpensive, “throw away” audio equipment. Warranties also tend to be significantly longer. It is not difficult these days to spend sums of money normally associated with the cost of new automobiles on a hi-fi system, or even a single hi-fi component. Although this may seem excessive to some, consider how much the average person spends on automobiles. In twenty years, the typical professional is likely to spend well in excess of $100,000 for an average of 4 to 5 vehicles, not including insurance, maintenance, and fuel costs. Perhaps the only vehicle still owned is the most recent one. The enormous financial resources consumed by those long-gone vehicles seems excessive indeed. A well-chosen and well-cared-for hi-fi system will give a lifetime of pleasure, and also make a nice family heirloom.

Why don’t you sell on line? We honor our commitments to the manufacturers we represent by only selling their products through our showroom. Selling on line unfairly competes with other authorized dealers, and thus would undermine the high ethical standards we maintain in all of our business practices.

Do you sell home theater systems? We recognize that a premium hi-fi system is often called upon to perform several important roles, handling everything from cherished mono recordings, to state-of-the-art 2-channel, to high definition multi-channel music and movies. Amplifier and speaker lines such as Bel Canto Design and Reference 3A, when married to your home theater receiver or processor, are ideally suited to delivering high end sound and high end value for your family’s entertainment needs. We also represent the world’s finest name in cable technology, Nordost, to help you make all of the necessary connections.

Do you do installation? Installation, build-out, in-wall systems, remodeling and the like are not services we provide. We provide setup (placement and immediate connections only) for qualifying purchases (visit our showroom for details).
